WiNN NIGERIA

The motivation to start a chapter in Nigeria was to bring women together from different areas of conservation so they could share their highs and lows of working in conservation, says Dr. Grace Alawa, our Chapter Networking Lead and a dedicated wildlife and biodiversity conservation researcher.

In addition to the support they offer each other, our Nigeria chapter has also collectively worked on conservation projects in their local region of Adamawa State. One highlights is their work to combat the devastation caused by deforestation in Nigeria by training over 500 women on the production of biomass charcoal as a renewable energy resource. “WiNN Adamawa,” says WiNN Nigeria member Linda Benjamin, “is reaching out to women and empowering them to be resourceful.”

WiNN Nigeria welcomes and encourage any woman interested in conservation to join us as we strive to conserve nature in Nigeria now and for generations to come! Contact us at womeninnaturenetwork@gmail.com

For me WiNN is exciting because it’s about women bringing each other up and not condemning or criticizing each other.
