Dr, Renée González Montagut

Rénée González Montegut researched rainforest regeneration in cattle pastures in Mexico for her dissertation and was awarded a PhD from Harvard University for this work in 1996.  She started working for the Mexican Fund for the Conservation of Nature (FMCN) in 1997 and became their Conservation Director in 2004. Under Renée’s leadership, the FMCN signed a GEF grant for the conservation of coastal watersheds project in 2013, the largest GEF investment ever in Mexico, one that was recognized as best practice by GEF in 2019. In 2019 Renée led the accreditation of FMCN by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and in 2020 she became the General Director of FCMN.
