WiNN MEXICO

WiNN Mexico 2017 participants committed to establishing a Mexico WiNN Network after attending our 2017 Global Networking event. They began by creating a Facebook page and holding informal meetings in order to stay connected and have conversations with women within Mexico and have now grown to include several chapters in Mexico: WiNN Mexico-Los Tuxtlas; WiNN Mexico-Veracruz; WiNN Mexico-Yucatan; and Women’s Wildlife Grupo de Mujeres.

These groups have had a powerful impact for women across Mexico. “WiNN has meant to me a source of empowerment and visibility of the work that women in Mexico do for the conservation of ecosystems,” says Olga Garcia, a member of Mexico-Veracruz. “We are excited to be able to connect with other colleagues who are engaged in work related to the environment and thus join efforts to solve current problems,” says Mariana Alvarez Roche Raices Marina, WiNN Mexico-Yucatan.

WiNN Mexico chapter took part in WiNN’s inaugural formal mentorship program in 2023, helping guide six young mentees from Mexico through the start of their conservation journeys. They will also be hosting our Global Conference again in 2025.

WiNN Mexico welcomes and encourage any women to come and join us as we strive to conserve nature in Mexico now and for generations to come! Contact us at womeninnaturenetwork@gmail.com.

We are grateful to WiNN for supporting our learning through capacity building. We will continue working for nature, creating networks through the support of the entire organization.
